The Sacrament of Baptism is the greatest gift we will ever receive;
it is the Sacrament that changes us FOREVER.
In Baptism, we are marked as a child of God and offered the gift of salvation,
initiation into the Christian community, and the beginning of life in Jesus Christ.
This sacrament of initiation opens the door to the other sacraments,
with Eucharist and Confirmation completing the initiation process.
If you are a registered and active parishioner at
Holy Redeemer, Holy Trinity, St. Mary, or St. Peter, please call the Scioto Catholic
office at (740) 354-4551 to set up the preparation meeting and the Baptism itself.
Normally, this meeting happens six months prior to the Baptism.
For those who are not registered at the parish, we will require a letter
from the pastor of your parish of registration.
A customary stipend for the celebrant of the baptism is $50.
Click here for the Baptismal Information Sheet that will need to be filled out prior to the Baptism.
“Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit,
and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin
and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into
the Church and made sharers in her mission.”
